Select Board reviews $830,000 sewer cost hike
Dalton Select Board hears sewer bills could nearly double under new Pittsfield wastewater deal.
Select Board · Meeting of March 23, 2026
Dalton Select Board hears sewer bills could nearly double under new Pittsfield wastewater deal. Town Manager Eric Anderson told the board a proposed agreement could raise FY27 wastewater costs by $830,000 and eventually push Dalton's total sewer bill to around $2.9 million, with household fees climbing past $1,000 a year, "that's an awful lot of discharge you and I are paying for." Anderson wants the increase phased in over three to five years and a $100,000 annual buffer built into a sewer stabilization fund. Select Board member Tony Pagliarulo reported the Board of Health has now fined BCC twice, $5,000 and $10,000, over an unapproved dust mitigation plan.
Longtime member Dan announced he will not seek re-election after six years on the board and five on the Planning Board. No major votes were taken on the sewer figures, AI/social media policy drafts, or a $20,000 Clean Air Committee budget request, which was withdrawn.
