Select Board · Meeting of May 19, 2026
Dalton Select Board reorganizes, elects Bishop chair and Boyle vice chair, approves $115,000 in budget transfers. The board, seated with newest member Jeannie Ingram, moved roughly $115,000 in surplus communications salary funds to cover snow and ice, accounting, postage and website costs after a winter Town Manager Eric described as requiring crews "23 days in a row to plow." Members approved a $145,211 warrant billing Hinsdale for its share of sewage flow to Pittsfield and a common victualer license for Riverbank Farm's new soft-serve stand. The board signed a Clean Air Committee letter urging the state DEP to issue a cease-and-desist order against Berkshire Concrete Corporation's gravel mine, which the town says is being fined $300 a day for dust violations.
A legislative request for $125,000 toward a senior center generator yielded just $20,000, which officials plan to use for wiring instead. A special town meeting was set for June 29.
