Dalton Public Safety Committee accepts final report, votes to suspend operations
Other Committee · Meeting of February 18, 2026
Dalton's Public Safety Facility Advisory Committee voted unanimously to accept its final report and suspend further meetings, leaving disbandment to the Select Board. The committee, which has studied the need for a new police facility for nearly two years, approved its roughly 700-page report package at the February 18 meeting and directed it to the town manager for placement on the Select Board's agenda, tentatively two weeks out. Members also voted to instruct consultant Brian Humes to produce a cost estimate, floor plan, and rendering for a one-story building model, drawing on an estimated $13,000 remaining in his contract; one member abstained from that vote.
A public commenter who said he had followed the committee from its start called the report "foundational" for eventually securing a site, while the chair noted a site RFP remains outstanding.
