Dalton panel elects officers, reviews station sites
Other Committee · Meeting of September 23, 2026
DALTON — Newly formed Dalton committee elects officers, opens review of police-fire station sites. The panel, impaneled by the Board of Selectmen to review RFP responses for a public safety facility, unanimously elected Don Davis as chairman and Ryan Flanders as vice chairman. Resident David Martindale objected that the meeting was posted under a different, earlier committee's name and threatened an Open Meeting Law complaint, calling a West Housatonic Street site "a poor choice" over wetlands.
Fire district representative Jim Dressel said the same parcel "has good promise" for a joint facility. Members cited a comparable $13 million combined police-fire complex in Lenox and discussed a Taylor property priced at $975,000. The town manager said Dalton can bond about $10 million before hitting its debt cap.
The committee voted unanimously to have police and fire submit space needs to its consultant and set its next meeting for October 15.
