Dalton Fire District Lifts Drought Restrictions as State Ends Level 2 Designation
DALTON — Dalton's Fire and Water Department says the state has lifted the Level 2 "Significant Drought" designation that had covered the Western Region, including Dalfon, meaning there are currently no water use restrictions in town.

The Dalton Fire District, which oversees both fire protection and the town's public water supply, reports that the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs has ended the Level 2 drought status for the Western Region. The district says there are no drought restrictions in effect at this time. The department is led by Interim Fire Chief Ryan Foley, with Bob Benlien serving as water superintendent.

The Community Recreation Association, which serves Dalton and the greater Central Berkshires from its Main Street campus, will hold its next Food Truck Distribution on September 23 from 11 a.m. to noon. The free event is intended to help residents facing food insecurity; the CRA also points people to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts Mobile Hotline at 413-419-0079 for additional support.
