Dalton Receives Purple Heart Community Designation

DALTON -- Dalton has been named a Purple Heart Community, a formal recognition honoring town veterans who were wounded or killed in combat, marking the most notable development to come out of town channels this week.

TOWN HALL Dalton has received a Purple Heart Community designation, according to a report highlighting the honor and pointing to the town's official website, dalton-ma.gov, for details. The designation is a recognition many Massachusetts communities pursue to formally acknowledge veterans who were wounded or killed in combat, and it typically comes with signage marking the town's borders and consideration in future civic ceremonies.

COMMUNITY & ARTS A local cyclist is set to share stories from a recent adventure through Cuba, according to the Berkshire Eagle's community news desk. The talk touches on stops tied to Cuba's UNESCO World Heritage Sites, giving Dalton residents a firsthand look at the island nation through a neighbor's travels.
